Hi Ya'll! I'm Lola... one half of the Kaffeinated Knits team for the Amazing Lace. I figured since I'm the important one on this team and all, I'd take a little time and let ya'll get to know moi. I am one hundred percent beeeyoooteeful lace weight cashmere - yep, you heard me - casssshhhhhhmeeeere. Mmmm. Kinda makes ya just wanna squish me, huh? Yeah, thought so. That's how I won out for the spot on this team... all my one hundred percent soooffffft squishyness. That there's my natural charm.
For a while, the Knitter, she thought she was gonna be competing with Fifi - sheesh - Fifi? Who does she think she is? Fifi. Humph. Dang Italian silk cotton thinks she's all that with a name like Fifi and all that lime green color goin' on. Then she met me, and all those plans for that sweet little summer tank she and Fifi were dreamin' up... well they just took a rightful back seat to me and my beeeyooooteeeful squishyness. I told you I am one hundred percent casssshhhhmeeere, right? Right. 'Nuff Said.

Here we are in our first team photo. Pretty cute huh? That yellow light doesn't do a lot for me - or the Knitter for that matter - but she said we couldn't use the flash or some dang thing like that. Well, ya'll got my close up first, so you just remember how cute I looked there. Anyway - more about me. I came all the way from Hunt Valley Cashmere down in Maryland - that there is south of the Mason Dixon Line, where we know the value of good Sweet Tea. (The Knitter says there ain't none in New Jersey, but that's fine by me since it's not really all that good for my complexion.)
The Knitter is going to turn me and my beeeyooooteeeful self into a shawl for those wonderful folks down where I came from - Hunt Valley Cashmere - ya'll remember, right? Anyhow, this shawl is called the Frost Flowers shawl, and let me tell you, with me made up into that, well, shoooooo-eeeee! I am gonna be the purtiest thing ya'll ever did see. Way more beeeyoooteeeful than that silk cotton Fifi creation. Mmmmhmmmm. Fifi can just rest her little sassy self for a spell while me and the Knitter get goin on this Amazing Lace. What? I am not heartless.... at least I gave her the remote.

Aw, poor Fifi!

What pretty cashmere! However, Lola dear, one must remember that it's unbecoming to make light of the misfortune of others. The silk and cotton cannot help the Lowcountry origin of her background. One grants the less fortunate a beneficent smile, gloating causes pills.

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl...
We expect some Amazing Lace from you, Lola. We know you won't disappoint. Get on those needles, gf!
Good luck with the challenge, Kathy :-)

I think Lola may cause your team some problems. She seems very strong willed and might just not be all that great at taking orders. However, I know you will win out in the end and have a gorgeous shawl to show for the effort.

Those eyes, that bow... so cute!

Hi Lola,
Well, we might not have sweet tea here in NJ, but we do have saltwater taffy for your sweet tooth! You can always add your own sugar to the tea. Be careful, too much sweetness might not be good for your soft, squishy, beeyooteeful self!
Tell Kathy that I'm glad she found the t-shirt and I hope her sister loves it!

Now what is better than cashmere with a southern drawl? :) Can't wait to see that soft girl put to work!!

I get the feeling that if I *were* to actually squish Lola, she'd smack me upside the head for getting fresh. Awesome entry...you are a worthy competitor! :-)
Thanks for commenting on my post, too!

Oh Lola! :) I love the bow!
I have some Hunt Valley cashmere in the ol' stash - it is luxurious stuff!

What fun you will have with Lola,
but I have to tell you, I'm really interested in Fifi. What is it? I can't really read the tag on the yarn in the pic. I'm thinking a silk cotton blend lace weight might be just the thing for places I'm going, where cashmere would just languish as it's too too too hot.

Yea Kathy! Congrats on your mention on the Amazing Lace Best Of! "Just Plain Good Writing" they say. Well, your readers already knew that! :)
