It's been socks and more socks - in between work and commuting and of course, a lot of coffee. First up... Elfine socks in Sunshine Yarns "Sweet Dreams." I love this yarn (thanks Dani!!) and I think the Elfine's lace pattern shows it off beautifully. It took me a while to get going with this lace... in the pattern it's written out versus charted. So, I made up a little Excel grid and downloaded a knitting font and made my own chart - and it made all the difference.
It's so much easier for me to be able to "see" what I'm knitting, and I'm now just about done with sock #1 of this pair. These are for my Holiday Sox Knitalong Secret Pal, so I'm really working a lot on getting these done so they're in the mail by the due date - Dec. 16. Now that I'm whizzing along in the lace pattern, I'm a LOT less worried.
Then, of couse, there are the Christmas Jaywalkers. Thanks to Stephanie, who told me to reset the flash settings, this picture shows the colors in this yarn more clearly (in Elfine as well.) The yarn is Knit Picks Sock Garden in "Holly Berry." It is unbelievably soft and a dream to work with. I love the way the striping effect works up in the Jaywalker pattern, though I have to admit it got a little more Christmasy on the short rows of the heel.
And in other, non-sock news, I got my new glasses.
The goofy look is me trying to blow my mom and sisters a kiss... and I wound up looking more like I'm gargling.
Oh well. It's the thought that counts.

Oooh, what pretty socks! I can't wait to knit up my Sunshine Yarn! It's great to see how yours looks. I love the Jaywalkers as well. What a great pattern. Good luck on both!

Nice Jaywalker socks - love the colors of that yarn. And the new glasses look great. I think the photo is a hoot, too.

I LOVE THE GLASSES! Yeah! You did it! Congratulations, my friend. Socks or no socks, you have joined the visually impaired. Take heart: I now have to wear reading glasses WHILE wearing my contacts! Let us not go gently...let us woo-hoo all the way. I love you and can't wait to see you soon. B.

Cute glasses! In fact, you're just adorable. I love the socks - both wonderful in their own way. I'm glad resetting the flash worked for you.

I love your new glasses and both those socks are so beautiful!!!
On a totally different note, how do you get typepad to put those borders on your pictures in posts. I thought you could only do that on the pictures on the side bar... It look so cute!
Happy knitting, coffee drinking and commuting! =)

That's what I should have done...just go up one size needle on the smaller sock. Both your socks look great!

Oohh, I love both pairs of socks. I am glad you love the Sweet Dreams... I hadn't seen that one knit up yet! You'll have to send me some pictures when you are done for my gallery! You look so pretty too in that last picture!

I have the same Holly Berry yarn, it looks super-cool knit up in the Jaywaljer pattern. I am resisting knitting your exact socks.

Isn't Sock Garden great? That Holly Berry colorway is really nice. It doesn't pool with that pattern as much as Stargazer Lily did.
